Prepare for the Vivre Ensemble exam in Luxembourg

What is Vivre Ensemble?

When applying for Luxembourgish citizenship through naturalisation, the Vivre Ensemble certificate is required alongside the applicable residence condition and Luxembourgish-language evidence, including the Sproochentest.
Certain nationality-by-option routes also require this Vivre Ensemble certificate, but the requirements depend on the route. Check the official Guichet nationality prerequisites.
You can obtain the certificate either by passing the exam or by completing the official 24-hour course; choose one route, not both.

Common questions before choosing

Is Vivre Ensemble the Luxembourgish language test?
No. It is a separate certificate about life, rights and institutions in Luxembourg. Naturalisation and certain nationality-by-option routes may separately require Luxembourgish-language evidence; check the Guichet prerequisites above for the route that applies to you.
Do I need to complete both the course and the exam?
No. The course and the exam are alternative ways to obtain the same Vivre Ensemble certificate.
What should I check before choosing?
The exam means independent preparation and one assessment. The course means 12 guided sessions, so check that the available dates and attendance fit your schedule.
Where can I find current languages, places, dates and study materials?
