Vivre Ensemble exam guide
The Vivre Ensemble certificate is required when applying for Luxembourgish citizenship through naturalisation and for certain nationality-by-option routes. The exam is the independent route: it may suit you if you prefer to prepare at your own pace and complete one assessment.

What you will be tested on
The computer-based multiple-choice exam covers three topics. Institutions carry half of the questions, so give that area a proportionate share of your preparation.
- •Fundamental rights — 10 questions.
- •State and municipal institutions — 20 questions.
- •Luxembourg history and European integration — 10 questions.
What exam day looks like
The official exam is computer-based. Use the final registration details to plan your visit.
- •Bring the identity document used during registration and your Luxembourg social-security card.
- •Registration is final once confirmed, so check the date, time and venue carefully before you confirm.
- •After a failure or non-attendance, a new registration is possible 30 days after the original exam date.

Candidate experience is anecdotal, not an official exam rule. Prepare for specific detail as well as broad themes, practise committing to answers under timed conditions, and read every question and the official registration email carefully. If possible, check the route and entrance before exam day; otherwise allow generous extra time to find the correct room.
